English Georgian Solid Sterling Silver Mop Letter Opener 1830 Boxed

Description

An interesting boxed solid sterling silver and mother of pearl letter opener. It is hallmarked for Sheffield 1830 with the maker’s marks being that of Alexander Hunt. It has most likely been made from a Georgian butter knife repurposed into a letter opener, but never the less very well done. It has a been superbly designed and is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. The letter opener measures approx. 7 inches (18cms) long by over 0.5 inch (1.3cm) wide and weighs 30 grams excluding the box. A very nicely designed example.
