G. Gambogi, Italy' and also at the skirt hem 'G. Gambogi', a standing figure of a young woman who holds an urn (which contains the lamp) above her head, she is wearing a romanticized Egyptian/Oriental dress with parcel gilt head and arm bands, earrings and a two-strand necklace, her nude upper torso is above a polychrome flowing skirt with a gilt sash and buckle, bronze foliate form mounts are the handles on the urn.

The figure stands on a rough rock surface that rests on a rust oblong plinth all of which are presented on an associated pedestal of black marble with green variegation,

The Italian sculptor Giuseppe Gambogi was active in the last part of the 19th and the first quarter of the 20th Century. He sculpted in marble, alabaster and bronze mediums although white marble seemed his favourite. His figural depictions focus primarily on the female form.
