Superb Biedermeier Mahogany Abattant Secretaire Desk

Description

A superb quality 19th.century Biedermeier figured mahogany abattant. The stepped and shaped top having applied decorative turned finials above a cushion moulded drawer and flanked by rounded corners supported by barley twist columns with well carved decoration. The fall having central book matched flame mahogany panel set within the moulded frame and opens to reveal a very well fitted interior. Consisting of 2 banks of 3 serpentine shaped drawers below a wide shaped drawer and central cupboard. Below is a pull-out writing slide which has a replaced black leather writing surface with blind and gold tooling. The lower section having 3 shaped and moulded full width drawers and the whole raised on short reeded legs. Condition - Very good and original, fully cleaned and waxed with working locks and keys. Dimensions:- Height…66.25''/ 168cm. Width…45.25’’/ 115cm. Depth…23.25’’/ 59cm. Delivery to most of U.K. mainland ( very heavy) £75.
