The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
They have been superbly made being made and are in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. I suspected they were from trimming candle wicks or possibly used for cutting grape bunch stems - or they are just scissors as they cut paper perfectly. They measure approx. 6.75 inches (16cms) long by over 2 inches (5.3cms) wide at the handles and weigh 56 grams. Superbly made very high quality unusual examples.
