Description

Rare English Georgian solid sterling silver scissors or shears. They are hallmarked for London 1818 with the maker’s marks being that of William Eley & William Fearn. They have been superbly made being made and are in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. I suspected they were from trimming candle wicks or possibly used for cutting grape bunch stems - or they are just scissors as they cut paper perfectly. They measure approx. 6.75 inches (16cms) long by over 2 inches (5.3cms) wide at the handles and weigh 56 grams. Superbly made very high quality unusual examples.
