Set of Twelve York Silver Dinner Forks 1836

19th century
Description

This is a fantastic set of twelve matching solid sterling silver dinner forks, assayed in the York Assay Office.

York Assay Office closed in 1857 which leaves silver with the corresponding hallmarks increasingly rare. These dinner forks are very clearly hallmarked for York 1836, just at the end of the reign of William IV. The maker's marks are for James Barber & William North. There is an initial on the reverse of each finial and the forks are in the fiddle pattern.

Dimensions:

Length: 20.5cm

Width: 3cm

Total Silver Weight: 884g.

Post and packaging are free within the UK. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs and please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
