Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton period furniture, popular in Britain during the late eighteenth century, is characterised by delicate proportions, clean geometric outlines, and refined decorative details such as serpentine fronts, fluted columns, and decorative wood inlays.

These chests were constructed using solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, often accented with boxwood or satinwood stringing. Drawers typically featured hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine linings, and cast brass swan-neck or oval plate handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn drawer bottoms with shrinkage cracks, irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brassware fixings, and natural oxidation or wear on the interior frame and back panels.

A serpentine chest serves as a focal piece in contemporary hallways, bedrooms, or living spaces, providing rich texture that contrasts effectively against neutral walls, modern artwork, or minimalist lighting.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme changes in humidity to prevent wood warping.
