This Georgian George II chest of drawers stands on bracket feet and provides generous storage through two short drawers above five graduated long drawers. Constructed from oak, pine, and thick hand-sawn figured English walnut veneer with a warm brown golden colour, the piece displays bookmatched grain patterns, brass drop handles, and brass escutcheons on each drawer front. The polished timber surface reflects extensive restoration and wax finishing while maintaining smooth operation across all seven drawers. Measuring 130 cm high, 106 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, the tall proportion fits well into a bedroom, hallway, or living area as a practical storage unit with minimal floor space requirements.

Originating in mid-18th century Britain, George II chests of drawers are characterised by figured walnut veneers, balanced proportions, brass hardware, and bracket feet.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid oak or pine for internal drawer linings, veneered with rich walnut or burr walnut, and finished with cast brass handles and steel locks.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods with grain running front-to-back, and natural age-related shrinkage in the timber veneers.

Position the tall silhouette against a neutral wall to highlight the timber grain, pairing it with contemporary artwork or minimalist lighting for decorative contrast.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, avoiding direct heat sources and high humidity.
