Saddlebag faces, historically known as khorjin, were crafted by nomadic Bakhtiari and Luri tribes in western Persia for transporting goods across rugged terrain. Designed as double bags slung over pack animals, the front faces were densely hand-knotted for durability and decorated with symbolic tribal motifs.

These textiles were hand-woven using hand-spun sheep wool for both the pile and the warp, dyed using locally gathered natural vegetable and plant dyes. The weave features hand-knotted pile sections combined with flatweave finishes around the edges and closure loops.

Authentic pieces feature slight asymmetry in structural shape, natural color variations known as abrash, and distinct geometric motifs such as stepped diamonds and stylized animal figures. The wool has a lustrous quality, and the reverse side clearly displays hand-bound knotting rather than machine backing.
