The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The lid is clearly hallmarked for London 1827, with the maker's mark of Archibald Douglas. The glass base has bevelled corners and is heavy and tactile.
The silver top is heavy with a central grill and an empty cartouche.

A lovely survivor!
