Antique Victorian Solid Silver Cribbage Board

19th century
Description

This is a fantastic and seemingly rare solid sterling silver cribbage board.

It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1891, with the maker's mark for Hilliard & Thomason. The board is decorated with two playing cards - the Jack of Spades and a Joker, featuring the name of the famous playing card manufacturers, Charles Goodall and Son, London (1820 - 1922). They were the market leaders for many years and their design for the King, Queen and Jack are widely copied still. This may well have been a collaboration between the silversmiths and the card manufacturers which may explain why the board is stamped 'Patent' , although there is no patent number.

This heavy board stands squarely on 4 ball feet and is altogether fab!

Dimensions:

Length: 22.75cm

Width: 8.5cm

Height: 2cm

Weight: 178g.

Post and packaging are free within the UK. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs and please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.
