Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1930 Persian Heriz carpet is hand-knotted from wool and cotton, measuring 308 cm high, 245 cm wide, and 1 cm deep. The floor covering presents an allover cream field filled with intricate geometric motifs, paired with a dark navy border carrying patterned elements. The design displays terracotta, orange, and pale blue details alongside serrated leaves and geometric palmettes, finished with secured ends and sides. Suitable for placement on living room or dining room floors, the piece brings traditional style to an interior. The low pile displays visible wear consistent with age, while the generous proportions allow the rug to anchor large seating areas or open spaces in an English Country House setting.

FAQs

Originating from Northwest Iran, Heriz carpets are renowned for their durable hand-knotted construction, geometric designs, and bold stylised floral motifs, often featuring broad borders and rich natural dyes.

Heriz carpets are traditionally hand-knotted using durable hand-spun wool pile woven onto a robust cotton warp and weft foundation.

Authentic antique Heriz carpets feature durable symmetrical double-knot construction, angular geometric interpretations of floral patterns, and a dense wool pile displaying subtle colour variations.

A large Heriz carpet grounds a room by anchoring seating arrangements, pairing effectively with minimalist contemporary furniture or classic timber pieces to provide texture and visual depth.

Vacuum regularly without using a rotating brush bar, rotate the carpet annually to distribute wear evenly, and clean liquid spills immediately with a damp cloth or professional rug cleaner.
