Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver & Cut Glass Claret Jug

Description

An antique Edwardian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug which has a plain silver mount with a good pouring spout, a simple round hinged lid and a stylish angular handle which is comfortable to hold. The hobnail cutting to the glass body is particularly crisp and detailed and it rests on a star cut base. This silver claret jug has been well cared for over the years and remains in excellent condition. It will hold 90 cl of wine.

Height: 21 cms (8.3")

Length (from handle to spout): 12.5 cms (4.9")

Diameter of base: 8 cms (3.1")

It was hallmarked in Birmingham for 1905 by J. Sherwood & Sons and remains in excellent condition.
