Beautiful pair of 19th century French Empire style ormolu gilt and patinated bronze 'Retour d'Egypte' candlesticks in the form of the Egyptian god Horus in the guise of a falcon. Subtle Egyptian Revival with beautifully modelled, finely cast, black patinated falcons surmounted by exquisite mercury gilded candle cups with leaves and berries. Circular Rouge Giotte marble bases with gilt bronze domed socle stands with similar leaf decoration. French, circa 1820-1830.
