Description

Rare heavy Victorian Scottish solid silver sugar tongs. They are hallmarked for Edinburgh 1859 with the makers mark being that of Mackay & Chisholm. They have been beautifully designed with what is termed as the Kings Pattern and have been engraved with the crest and motto 'I HOPE TO SPEED' used by the Cathcart family. They are in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. They measure approx. 6 inches (15.2cms) long by 2 inches (5.2cms) across the grips and weigh 66 grams. Rare and beautiful examples.
