Walnut Revolving Desk Chair C.1870

Description

Unusual country made or vernacular revolving desk chair c.1870. Sturdy construction in solid walnut. Curving backrest and shaped arms with flared and scrolling terminals over a thick circular seat (seat height 21½") in two pieces. Revolving on a circular base with a deep apron and four good strong legs, slightly flared for stability. Simple design, the seat being held on the base with just a single peg at the centre. Very good condition, old repairs to the arm supports, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
