Superb Victorian Silver Bowl Beautifully Embossed London 1900

Description

A wonderfully proportioned and beautifully crafted solid silver bowl.  The embossing is particularly pretty  with flowers , swags and criss-cross patterns.  It also features two empty cartouche areas either side. The bowl stands on a lovely circular foot.  Clear hallmarks are visible on one side for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1900, Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker's mark: Elkington & Co Ltd.

 

This bowl is in superb condition and feels lovely to pick up and hold in both hands and is a particularly good size (not too large not too small).  Would make a superb centrepiece on a table.  A superior item of silver.

 

Hallmarks:  London 1900 by Elkington & Co Ltd.

 

Measurements:  Height:  11 cm   Diameter width:  15.3 cm    Weight:  313.4 grams
