Antique English Sterling Silver Tea Caddy - Victorian - 1899

Description

A stunning and substantial sterling silver hexagonal tea caddy with rounded edges and dimpled panels with handsome rope borders to top and bottom coordinating with the finial crowning the top. The caddy stands on four wonderful Lion's paw feet.

The hinged lid works well, the interior of the lid has a partial hallmark matching the full hallmark to the body of the caddy for Birmingham 1899 together with the makers mark R M & S.

A good gauge of silver was used to create this weighty piece, 6.83 troy ounces / 212 grams and measuring 4 1/2" across x 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" tall to top of finial.
