Birmingham 1897 Wonderful Solid Silver Heart Shaped Box with Reynolds Angels Design, Made by Henry Matthews.

Description

Birmingham 1897 Victorian English hallmarked solid silver heart shaped box with hinged lid. Beautifully worked with the famous and collectable Reynolds Angels in the clouds repousse design to the hinged lid, fluted and twisted ribbon design to edges, and twisted foliate garlands to sides.

Made by Henry Matthews, well known maker of such boxes.

Original gilded interior.

Date marks to base are rubbed, but are very crisp on the lid.

Size-2.5 inches long by 2.25 inches wide by 7/8 inches high.

Weight-50 grams.

A substantial heart shaped box with good weight, good hinge, and beautifully made.

A romantic piece for dressing table or desk, in very good condition. Great for jewellery, baby's hair or teeth or other trinkets. Also great for the collector of small boxes.

Matching large trinket dish with same design listed separately if desired. See listings.
