A beautiful rare German cast solid silver belt buckle. It is hallmarked for with the German crescent moon & crown mark along with the 800 standard mark and a makers mark. I would date it to c1900. It has been superbly designed being decorated with flowers and a cherub unusually with two extra hinged sections. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measure approx. 5.25 inches (13cms) across by 2.5 inches (6.4cms) tall with the buckle loops measuring internally approx. 1 inch (2.6cms) and it weighs 38 grams. A beautiful very high quality example.
