A rare good sized English solid sterling silver trencher salt cellar. It is hallmarked for London 1901 with the makers marks being that of Elkington & Co Ltd. It has been superbly designed being a replica of examples dating to 1684 held by the Worshipful Company of Innkeepers. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, other than a tiny mark inside the bowl, see final photo. It measures approx. 4 inches (10.5cms) across the base by 3.25 inches (8.2cms) across the top by over 1 inch (2.8cms) and weighs 126 grams. A very well made top quality rare piece.
