The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the 1900s.
It would have been used by a gentleman with a fancy moustache preventing him from getting food stuck in it, the shame would have been unbearable, the perpetrator, almost certainly ostracized, would then have to witness the downfall of his estate and decline of his social standing eventually leading to destitution and the workhouse? You do find these in silver plate but seldom in solid sterling silver. It measures approx. 8.25 inches (20.5cms) long by 1.75 inches (4.5cms) wide and weighs 74 grams. A very well made unusual piece.
