Description

This exquisite and rather sizeable silver jewellery is hallmarked for Chester and dates circa 1915. The hinged domed cover inlaid with musical instruments within ribbon-tied garlands. The plain silver circular base raised on three leaf-capped claw feet. Original silk interior.

Hallmarks:

Maker's marks and date letter erased.

Chester Assay Mark and Lion Passant identifiable.

This ribbon-tied engraving was very a popular motif in the George V era, thus dating this box between 1910 and 1920

Condition:

Good.

Silver cover and base in very good condition, no dents.

Snuggly fitted lid.

Hallmarks faint.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 8.5cm / 3.2inches.

Height: 5cm / 2 inches.
