Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of antique Malayer runner rugs, dating from around 1900, exhibits a traditional Persian style with a hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation. The design incorporates a repeating lattice pattern enclosing geometric boteh motifs in shades of navy blue, terracotta red, and ivory, complemented by patterned borders. Each rug measures 647 cm high, 104 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, resulting in a combined length of 1294 cm. Both pieces remain in very good original condition following a deep clean and securing of the ends and sides, and they can be joined or cut to create a single extra-long piece if required. Suitable for placement in long hallways, grand corridors, or expansive living spaces within a traditional interior setting, these floor coverings add warmth and historic character to a home.

FAQs

Originating from the Malayer district in northwestern Iran, these hand-knotted textiles are distinguished by geometric floral motifs, repeating boteh patterns, and durable wool construction.

They are woven using hand-spun wool pile anchored to a cotton warp and weft, coloured with natural vegetable dyes that age into soft tonal shifts over time.

Authentic examples exhibit slight variations in pattern symmetry, visible hand-tied knots along the underside, and subtle colour shading known as abrash.

Placing extended runners along long hallways, entrance galleries, or wide corridors adds historical depth, texture, and warm color tones to contemporary and classic spaces.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotary brush, rotate periodically to equalise tread wear, and clean liquid spills immediately with an absorbent dry cloth.
