Large George III Silver Tankard by John Carter, 1776

Description

An impressive large George III solid silver tankard, of tapering cylindrical form with reeded bands with hinged cover. The cover and handle beautifully engraved with scroll hops and wheat with central engraved with armorial to the lid. Hallmarked London 1776, with makers mark IC, likely for John Carter.

In excellent condition throughout, the base and lid hallmarked. The hallmarks to the lid are rubbed, as illustrated.
