An Early 18th Century Silver Handled Butter Knife

An early 18th Century silver butter knife. This rare example is in the sought after pistol grip pattern and retains the original polished steel blade The handle is decorated with an acanthus pattern and a lovely engraved armorial. As is usual with early silver, it bears only the Sterling Lion and Maker's mark. A delightful early piece, with a practical use. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Good, with no losses or splits. There are a number of knocks and bumps to the handle and the blade has discolouration, commensurate with age and use.

Hallmarks :- Maker's Mark and Sterling Lion. Both very soft.
