A top quality very interesting Georgian solid sterling silver marrow scoop. It is hallmarked for London 1781 with the makers marks being those of William Sumner. It has been engraved with a lion crest and motto Confido - most likely a variant of that used by the Mills family, this motto was used by the Mills of Saxham Hall in Suffolk but their lion was rampart rather than passant. It is in superb condition having no dings splits repairs or wear, the odd faint mark. It measures approx. 8.75 inches (22cms) long by 0.75 inch (2.1cms) wide and weighs 34 grams. A very interesting piece.
