Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Juval, or Chuval, is a traditional large flat-woven storage bag crafted by nomadic pastoralist tribes, including Kurdish weavers in Anatolia and the Caucasus. Historically used to transport goods and store household items within tents, these textiles feature distinctive geometric patterns woven using kilim or soumak techniques.

Traditional Juvals are hand-woven predominantly from hand-spun sheep wool, often using natural vegetable dyes to achieve terracotta red, indigo blue, and ochre hues. Construction typically combines slit-weave kilim techniques with extra-weft brocading or soumak wrapping for detailed geometric ornamentation.

Authentic antique tribal flatweaves show slight asymmetrical variations in design, subtle colour shifts known as abrash, and evidence of hand-spun yarn structure. Examining the reverse side reveals raw, unrefined hand-brocading techniques and natural wool oxidisation consistent with age.

Flat-woven antique textile panels can be mounted as framed wall art or suspended as decorative textile tapestries to add visual interest to a space. They are also frequently repurposed into runner accents, table covers, or upholstery fabric for scatter cushions.

Vacuum the textile gently using a low-suction upholstery attachment without a rotating brush to avoid pulling the fibres. Keep the wool away from direct sunlight to prevent dye fading, and consult a professional textile conservator for specialised cleaning.
