A Set of 8 18th Century Silver Fiddle & Thread Pattern Teaspoons

18th century
Description

A fine set of eight Georgian silver teaspoons from the end of the 18th Century. These charming and practical examples are in the sought after fiddle and thread pattern and are single struck (pattern to front only). To the top fronts the initial 'Y' is engraved each is has a tiny number below ranging between 3 and 17, suggesting that originally they must have formed part of a much larger suite - perhaps for 24.

Flatware is rather scarce nowadays due to the great losses, caused by the unscrupulous melting of antique silver for scrap. Therefore a matching set of 8, from the 18th Century Georgian era is a rare find. Dimensions below.
