A superior and extremely attractive Edwardian solid silver double Sovereign Case of the finest quality. The lozenge shaped case is beautifully engraved to both the back and the front. The front has a shield shaped empty cartouche in the centre. It has a spring loaded hinged lid, opened by a push button, and has a loop for attachment. When the lid is open two sovereign compartments are visible (for a sovereign and half sovereign) where partial hallmarks on both of the compartment rims are clear and crisp, with a fabulous neat engine turned pattern engraved to the centre pieces (see images). Hallmarks to the underneath of the lid are also visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1908 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver along with the maker's mark: HH
The superb craftmanship is very evident. The case is in lovely antique collector's condition, no dents or marks to the silver and opens and closes perfectly
