A rare boxed English solid sterling silver star cigarette box canister. It is hallmarked for Sheffield Birmingham 1931 with the makers marks being those of Mappin & Webb. It has been superbly designed being of cylindrical form and the lid has been engraved with a eight pointed star and 'W.D. & H.O. Wills Bristol & London'. W.D. & H.O. Wills was a British manufacturing company founded in 1786. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean and the top fits tightly - almost certainly never used. It measures approx. 3.25 inches (8.5cms) tall by 3 inches (7.5cms) across and weighs 114 grams. A rare and unusual piece.
