Description

A rare beautiful Norwegian sterling silver gilt and enamel snuff box. It is hallmarked with the 925 Norwegian silver standard mark and the makers mark of David Andersen, this mark was used from 1888 to 1925 - I would date it to c1900. It has been beautifully decorated in a vibrate blue enamel. It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. The enamel is free from chips and cracks but does have a small repair near the base - see final photo, this could be improved. It measures approx. 2.5 inches (6.3cms) long by 1.5 inches (3.7cms) wide by 1 inch (2.5cms) tall and weighs 58 grams. A rare very high quality example.
