Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

Hinged on one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly and reveals the hallmarks on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay office with date mark for 1901 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, along with the maker's mark for the silversmith: Samuel Levi.
