A Rare Georgian Silver 'Ketchup' Label

A rare early 19th Century silver 'Ketchup' condiment Label. This wonderful piece is rectangular in shape, with embossed pattern and leaf motifs to the top centre. The word 'Ketchup' is engraved to the centre. The label is supported on a belcher chain and the title is in 'pricked' initials.

Ketchup is a condiment that dates back far longer than today's popular tomato based condiment and was in regular use on the Georgian and Victorian table.

Hallmarks :- Maker's mark, duty mark, Sterling lion and date letter.

Chain length :- 8.5 cms.
