Rare Sterling Silver Invalid Nelson Fork Georgian 1820 Napoleonic Wars Military

Description

A very interesting and rare Georgian sterling silver fork - termed a Nelson Fork. It is hallmarked for London 1820 with the makers marks being Fern and Ely. It has had a later fitted case professionally made for it. It has been interestingly designed having a steel edge to the inside tine designed to cut. These were made after the Napoleonic Wars for soldier who had lost arms. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures 8.25 inches (20.7cms) long and weighs 80 grams excluding the case. A very interesting and special piece.
