Antique Japanese silvered bronze yatate with dragon mon. 20.5cm long x 3cm wide, weight 135g.

Nice original condition and patina.

Yatate are small personal smoking-pipe-shaped writing sets dating from medieval Japan which provided a carrying box for the ink cotton, and a shaft for a brush. Mon are Japanese emblems used to decorate and identify an individual, a family, or (more recently) an institution or business entity.
