Victorian Silver' Ivy Leaf' Vesta Case Birm' 1896

A lovely Victorian, solid silver vesta case. Both the front and back are nicely decorated with crisp ivy leaf engraving, with an empty circular cartouche in the centre of the front. The lid is hinged to one side the opens and closes firmly with a nice snap. Hallmarks are clearly visible on the inside lip of the Vesta case for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1896 and maker's marks for the silversmith Turner Brothers. The Lion Passant is also visible indicating the finest sterling silver.

  

A lovely Vesta and a nice size (4cm x 3cm), and in great condition.
