A Desirable Silver 'Kummell' Tot Label

A rare mid Victorian silver 'Kummell' label. This wonderful piece is oval in shape, with a reeded border. The word 'Kummell is engraved to the centre. The label is supported on a belcher chain and the title is in 'pricked' initials.

Kummell is a sweet and colourless liqueur, flavoured with caraway, cumin & fennel. It is said to aid digestion and has a connection with the golfing community as being popular in the more traditional Golf Clubs, to steady nerves. It has the nickname of 'Putting Mixture'. This example is small and it's size suggests use with a tot or noggin. A wonderful collector's piece, with a practical use. Dimensions below.
