Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV from 1830 to 1837, this design style bridges the Regency and early Victorian eras. It is characterised by robust proportions, bold classical mouldings, carved architectural details, and extensive use of rich, highly figured mahogany veneers.

Wardrobes from this era were constructed in modular sections to allow for easier transportation and assembly within a home. Skilled craftsmen used solid timber carcases lined with flame mahogany veneers, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and solid wood panelled backs.

Authentic pieces exhibit construction details of the period, including hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, period-correct brass locks, turned wooden knobs, and architectural breakfront profiles with carved scroll brackets or pedimented tops.

A substantial breakfront wardrobe serves as an architectural anchor within a room. To balance its visual weight, pair it with light neutral wall tones, contemporary minimalist lighting, and modern soft textiles.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber warping and veneer fading.
