The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The back is highly decorated and has a vacant cartouche. The case is hallmarked for Birmingham 1903, with the maker's mark of Robert Pringle & Sons. The hinge on the cover is tight and there is good gilding inside the cover.
