Antique silver pocket watch chain, Newbury Challenge Cup.

The chain measures 36cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is graduated and each of the links has the lion silver mark, and one has the maker’s mark for the Birmingham silversmith E Whitehouse & Son who first registered this particular mark in 1902.

The T-bar is not hallmarked but is silver. The clasp is hallmarked but the marks are difficult to read.

The chain comes with a silver and enamel fob for the Newbury Challenge Cup with the Latin motto Floruit Floreat. There are no personal inscriptions to the back of the fob.

Total weight 49g.
