A quality Victorian four piece solid silver christening or childs cutlery set by John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater, hallmarked London 1889.

This fine set, comprising knife, fork, spoon and napkin ring. A true set, with all pieces matching. This fabulous set is presented in the original period leather case, lined in vibrant silk and velvet, retailed by Mappin Brothers of London. Excellent weight, superb condition, professionally polished and ready to be presented. The hallmarks to the napkin ring are rubbed; the maker is just about decipherable, the rest rubbed. All other pieces the hallmarks are sharp and clear. The lid with the name Hilda embossed into turn leather; this could be coloured black to disguise.
