Fine Victorian Silver Sovereign Case Chester 1898

Description

A beautifully engraved Victorian , solid silver single sovereign holder case with a loop for attachment. The engraving is exquisite and consists of a lovely floral design in a circular border around the circumference of the case front and overall decoration to the back. There is an empty cartouche in the centre of the front. Spring loaded, the case works perfectly and is in nice antique condition (there is a very small impression to the silver on the back of the case which we mention for accuracy).

 

Hallmarks are visible on the inside of the lid for the Chester Assay office with a date mark for 1898 and maker's mark for Colen Hewer Cheshire . Partial marks are also visible on the spring loaded side of the case.
