A Superb Georgian Silver Condiment Tub & Spoon

A fabulous silver condiment tub, dating from the early 19th Century. This superb example has a boat shaped bodies with a reeded and shaped border. The raised pedestal base is also shaped in harmony with the rim and the interior is richly gilded. The original use would have been for salt but due to the good capacity, the tub lends itself to a variety of table uses, such as mint sauce, cranberry, mayonnaise or parmesan. An associated Georgian silver spoon completes the duo and renders them both practical and decorative. Dimensions below.
