In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
It is clearly hallmarked on the base for London, 1772 and the maker W.T, most likely Walter Tweedie. Each foot is also separately hallmarked with the sterling lion and the maker's initials.
It is in excellent condition and has been gently cleaned and polished. There are some faint surface marks but no major damages and it displays beautifully.
