Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver and Glass Biscuit Barrel

1900 - 1920
Description

An Antique Edwardian Sterling silver and glass biscuit barrel which has a plain round shaped glass body with a star cut base, a plain silver mount and a circular lid. The silver handle is a special feature of this biscuit barrel as it has been designed to open the lid when gently pressed to the side. The mechanism that facilitates this action is still in perfect working order and it is unusual to find this feature on such a large object. It would look stylish when displayed on the table, would be practical to use and would look appealing when filled with chocolates as well as biscuits. The barrel stands at 21.00 cms high from the base to the top of the handle.

It was hallmarked in Birmingham for 1909 by Hukin and Heath and remains in excellent condition.

Free postage is offered within the price of this silver and glass biscuit barrel.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
