Antique Georgian Solid Sterling Silver Milk or Cream Jug Chester 1801

18th century
Description

A fine example of an antique Sterling Silver milk or cream jug. It is an elegant piece with a reeded border, square handle and exquisite decoration. The interior is gilded and still remains bright. It is a good quality piece, weighing approximately 136g.

It is clearly hallmarked for Chester, 1801 and the maker's mark I.E although I cannot attribute this to a maker.

It is in good condition for its age. There are some faint surface marks, minor dinks, light signs of age and use and a small dent in the very bottom but nothing detrimental. There has been an old repair on the inside below the handle (see photo) but it still displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.

Tracked UK delivery £5, rest of the world £20.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
