In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
It is clearly hallmarked on the base for London although the maker and date mark are obscured on the base. On the neck the maker's mark T.B for Thomas Bamford is clearly visible but I cannot make out a year. Thomas Bamford was active during the 1720s and 1730s.
It is in excellent condition for its age and has been gently cleaned and polished. There are some faint surface marks and a few minor marks but no major damages or anything detrimental and it displays beautifully.
