Rare English Lily Pattern Asparagus Tongs 1898 Victorian Antique

Description

Beautiful and unusual solid sterling silver asparagus tongs. They are hallmarked for Sheffield 1898 with the maker’s marks being WF over AF. They have superbly designed having arms in the form of the Lily Pattern. They were used for picking up one or two asparagus stems. They are in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs and are in full working order. They measure over 4 inches (10.8cms) long by over 1 inch (2.7cms) wide across the grips and weigh 32 grams. Very unusual examples.
