Kordi rugs are woven by Kurdish tribes inhabiting western Persia, characterised by dense wool piles, saturated vegetable dyes, and distinctive geometric motifs influenced by neighbouring tribal groups.

They are traditionally handknotted using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation warp and weft threads, utilising natural plant and insect-derived dyes.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the irregularities in the hand-spun wool, natural colour variations in the dye known as abrash, structural weave density, and traditional tribal iconography.

They can be styled as focal points on hardwood flooring, paired with minimalist modern furniture to contrast rich textures, or layered over larger neutral jute flooring.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without rotary brushes, professional specialist washing when necessary, and keeping them out of direct sunlight to prevent dye fading.
