Edwardian Silver Vesta Case with Gold Overlay

A truly splendid, unusual and superior vesta case, made from hallmarked sterling silver with a stunning 9ct gold overlay; this a most unusual Vesta Case.

 

The case is a lovely rectangular shape with the pretty scroll engraving to the back and to the silver across one half on the front, the other half having a beautifully leaf engraved 9ct rose gold overlay.

 

Hinged on one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly and reveals the hallmarks on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay office with date mark for 1904 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, along with the maker's mark for the silversmith: Smith & Bartlam. The gold overlay is also marked 9.375 (9ct gold).

 

This is a fabulous and unusual Vesta Case. It is superbly made and aesthetically pleasing on the eye - the colour of the rose gold is lovely! Great for a collector!
